Painting depicts the areas of the earth's geological structure. Cracks or faults hold uncut geodes.
Hand dyed and overstitched cotton worked in a variety of methods--linear, coiled, and straight. Hammered copper mesh. On 1/2 inch MDF.

This piece is interactive with light, evoking the excitement of spotting a hidden vein with a miner's lamp. The appearance changes dramatically when the copper reflects light. For example in low lighting, such as in the evening, yarn work recedes and the copper flashes much like a fire's flame. During the day copper veins randomly glow as the light source or viewing angle changes.
